Spring in Central Texas Hill Country

I've just come back from my walk with Lilo, our little border collie, on our 3 acres in Central TX. Lilo is always on the look out for the deer, squirrels, and other indigenous critters that live here with us. She even barks at the turkey vultures that ride the currents above. The wild birds have returned and are singin like there's no tomorrow, and the sun is out after a 1.5" rain last night, complete with thunderstorms. I take 100's of photos with my clunker Sony digital. This is my way of seeing the natural world.  Enjoy, and here's to spring, sunshine, and the circle of life!

  1. We used to have a dog much like Lilo. She was a mutt but clearly had the coloring & markings of a border collie. Her name was Sammy. I miss her & the walks we use to take.

  2. Die you get another dog? I think that we humans are tied closely to other species, especially dogs. Lilo was adopted form our local shelter by our daughter. She is a "mutt" but a mystic...so intelligent. Thanks for your comment.

  3. The rains, followed by some gorgeous days, are really doing scenic wonders to the Texas landscape, and the flora and fauna are indeed showing their appreciation. Lilo looks like a dear. An adopted dog "knows" he has been given a second chance, and it shows in his devotion. My two dogs, Pokey and TacoBelle, go beyond mystic...maybe angels in little fur suits.

  4. Yes, it is the MOST beautiful spring this year...and Lilo and I go out for a walk at every opportunity. (It's great having a dog...it gives me an excuse to talk to myself.) Tomorrow I will drive to Blanco for the "Meet the Artist" reception at the Rainbird Gallery. I'm looking forward to taking lots of pics on the way over. I love that stretch of Texas roadway where it cuts off 290 and takes a meander to Blanco.
Have a great weekend, and thanks for the comment!
