Going home to Colorado!

"Apache Land"
I am flying to Albuquerque, NM, and then driving HWY 55O to my hometown of Durango, CO tomorrow! I'll be soaking up inspiration for my Aspen Series, as well as the ongoing Sacred Earth Series. There is something so compelling  about the wide open spaces of NM, and the ascent into the mountains of Southwestern Colorado. I'll post jpgs of my journey when I return.

"Apache Land" is one of the few paintings that I have taken into my private collection. Driving to Colorado in November, the late evening light slipped through the winter sky to create an incredible lighting effect that could only happen in the redrock desert of NM.

At one point I lived on the Navajo Reservation for a number of years.
The images in this post are paintings that are inspired by my roots in the Southwestern USA, and many road trips from Texas to Colorado.
"Distant Blue"
Both paintings are watercolors on Arches paper, and are available as giclee prints. "Distant Blue" is now on view at Austin Art Space with archival matt and frame.
