It is 85 degrees in the day and mid 40's at night ...gorgeous!
Two years ago I agreed to a barter with Colorado based fabric artist , Lisa Rea. The deal was a king size quilt, now titled "Hawaii", for a 36 x 48 x 2.5" original painting on hand strecthed canvas.
On my last visit we spent 4 hours in a local shop selecting fabric, which I must say was quite the process. I was like a kid in a candy shop, captivated by all of the beautiful patterns and colors. Fortunately, I had guidance from my daughter, Rosalyn Nasky and Lisa Rea in making the decisions.
The end result is stunning!
During this visit, Lisa and I visted the studio of Durango CO, quilter and artist, Faye Goddin, who is doing the long arm stitching on the piece. I have a new appreciation for fabric artistry! This time we selected thread colors, weights, and patterns for the top stitching.
Yesterday Lisa and I drove up US HWY 550 North towards Silverton CO, to nail down her painting content. I gathered reference photos and got sketches of the high country landscape. As we drove up into the high country of Colorado I spotted an Aspen grove and got fabulous fish eye view images. I'm excited to return to my studio and paint from this well spring of inspiration.
